Our projects
IMARA FUND
(Mt. Rwenzori Wonders Education Fund)
Established in 2007, Mt. Rwenzori Wonders is an education fund dedicated to empowering young minds. Our scholarship program supports over 80 students— about 60% are girls and 40% boys. To make a broader impact, we also assist the caregivers, many of whom are single mothers, by helping them start income-generating projects through our micro-finance scheme. These ventures include poultry farming, piggery, small-scale shops, and agricultural projects. Additionally, many families have gained access to solar energy, improving their quality of life.
We have also invested in the infrastructure of Karambi Primary School in Kabarole District, Western Uganda. This includes a fully stocked library, kitchen, staff housing, and a hydroelectricity connection, benefiting over 1,000 students and the surrounding community.
A good number of our scholarship recipients have enrolled in tertiary education and technical schools, pursuing courses such as nursing, plumbing, hotel management, teaching, and mechanics. Part of the proceeds from Imara Farm Lodge go to the education fund.
FIELD & flock
Step into the heart of Imara’s agricultural life, where fields of onions, beans, maize, coffee, and potatoes thrive alongside our cows, goats, and poultry. This vibrant project fuels our farm-to-plate philosophy, nourishing both our guests and the local community. By growing crops and raising animals, we create jobs, support education, and strengthen our lodge’s offerings.
As a guest, you’re invited to roll up your sleeves and join us on the farm—whether it’s planting, harvesting, or caring for animals. It’s more than just fun and learning; it’s your chance to connect with our heritage, contribute to meaningful work, and be a part of something truly impactful.
